Edit your screen recordings with Claude Code

Connect Claude Code, Codex or Cursor to Swamp Dragon over MCP and describe the edit you want. Here's how it works and how to set it up in five minutes.

Editing a screen recording is mostly a sequence of small, precise decisions: cut this pause, zoom here, label that shortcut, add a title when the topic changes. That's exactly the kind of work AI assistants are good at when they have the right tools. Swamp Dragon gives them those tools through the Model Context Protocol (MCP).

What the assistant can do

Swamp Dragon's MCP server exposes 27 tools. An assistant can read your whole timeline with get_timeline, then cut with trim_clip, zoom with add_zoom, place titles with add_text, draw arrows and spotlights with add_graphic, animate anything with set_keyframes, add transitions, effects and looks, and on the Unlimited plan run skills, blur private areas and mix audio.

It works on the edit, not on your files. Tools never read or write arbitrary files, and your original recordings are never changed.

Set it up

  1. In Swamp Dragon, open Integrations and switch on MCP integration.
  2. Under What it can see, keep All projects or pick specific ones.
  3. Choose your assistant's tab and click Copy. The snippet already contains the right paths for your computer.
  4. For Claude Code, paste the command in your terminal. For Cursor, add the JSON to ~/.cursor/mcp.json. For Codex, add the block to ~/.codex/config.toml.
  5. Restart the assistant so it picks up the new tools.

The MCP page has the snippet for every supported assistant.

Your first prompt

Open the project in the editor so you can watch, then ask:

List my Swamp Dragon projects, open "Onboarding walkthrough", and:
1. remove the first 4 seconds,
2. add a "Step 1 — Create your workspace" title that comes in word by word,
3. zoom 1.8× on the Invite button around 0:42,
4. put a spotlight and an arrow on it while the zoom holds.

Each change appears on the timeline as it happens. The inspector notes which assistant made the last edit, and ⌘Z undoes it.

Tips for better results

  • Add markers first. Markers give the assistant names for parts of your video: "zoom in during the Settings section" works much better than guessing timestamps.
  • Ask for one pass at a time. "Cut the pauses" then "add zooms" gives cleaner results than one huge prompt.
  • Let it read first. Asking the assistant to describe the timeline before editing catches misunderstandings early.

Privacy

The bridge accepts connections only from your computer with a private token that changes every time the integration starts. The assistant sees timeline data such as times, text and settings, never video or audio frames. Swamp Dragon never bills for AI: usage is between you and your assistant's provider.

MCP is included in Starter and Pro (22 tools) and Unlimited (all 27). See pricing.
