Privacy policy

What Swamp Dragon collects, what stays on your computer, and your rights.

Last updated:

This policy explains what information Swamp Dragon ("Swamp Dragon", "we", "us") collects when you use the Swamp Dragon desktop app, this website and our paid plans, how we use it, and the choices you have. The short version: your recordings and projects never leave your computer unless you send them somewhere yourself.

#The desktop app

#Recordings and projects stay on your device

Swamp Dragon records your screen, camera, microphone and system audio only when you start a recording, and writes them to the recordings folder you choose. Editing, effects (including camera background blur and replacement, which run on your device using a bundled model), skills and exports all happen locally. The app does not upload your recordings, projects, thumbnails or exports, and it works without an internet connection.

#Cursor and keyboard metadata

When Cursor metadata is on, the app stores your cursor position, mouse clicks and keyboard shortcuts (a modifier key such as ⌘, Ctrl or Alt pressed together with another key) during recording, in a file inside the project. Ordinary typing is never recorded. This data is used only by features like Zoom to click and Show shortcuts, and stays on your computer.

#No analytics or telemetry

The app does not include analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs and does not send usage statistics or crash reports to us.

#Operating-system permissions

The app asks your operating system for Screen Recording, Camera and Microphone access, and optionally Accessibility access (to capture clicks and shortcuts). You can revoke these at any time in your system settings.

#MCP integration and AI assistants

If you turn on the optional MCP integration, AI assistants you install and configure (such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor) can read and edit the projects you share with them. Communication between the assistant's MCP server and the app happens only on your computer using a private token. Timeline information returned to the assistant β€” such as clip times, text you added and settings β€” may then be sent by that assistant to its provider under that provider's privacy policy. Swamp Dragon never sends video or audio to assistants. You choose which projects assistants can see, and you can turn the integration off at any time.

When you buy a plan, we and our secure payment provider process:

  • your name and email address;
  • billing country and postal code, and VAT/tax ID if you provide one;
  • your plan, subscription status, payment history and invoices.

Card details are entered with and stored by our secure payment provider; we never receive your full card number. We use this information to provide your plan, send receipts and account emails, handle refunds, prevent fraud and meet tax and accounting obligations.

#Marketplace catalog updates

The app connects to Swamp Dragon’s website to download the plugin and skill catalog and receive live updates. The server receives standard connection data, including your IP address. Catalog requests do not upload recordings, projects or your installed-item list. If you are offline, the downloaded catalog and installed packages remain available.

#Seller payouts

We collect seller identity and payout details to make monthly transfers at the end of each month. Payout details are stored securely and are not shared beyond the payout provider. After listing approval, bank details are collected through a secure link; never email them to us.

#Support

When you contact us, we receive what you send: your email address, your message, and any attachments such as screenshots, logs or project files. Project files may contain your recordings β€” only send what you're comfortable sharing. We use this only to help you and to improve the product, and delete attachments when your request is resolved .

#This website

  • Hosting. Our hosting provider receives standard request data (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) to serve the site and protect it from abuse, and uses server logs for those purposes.
  • Fonts. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. See Google's privacy policy.
  • Local storage. The docs remember small preferences in your browser (such as your chosen macOS/Windows tab). This stays in your browser and isn't sent to us.
  • Analytics and cookies. The website currently uses no analytics and sets no tracking cookies.

#How we share information

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. We share it only with:

  • payment, email, support and hosting service providers acting for us under contracts that limit their use of information;
  • authorities, when required by law or to protect rights, safety and security;
  • a successor, if the business is sold or merged, with notice to you.

We process personal data to perform our contract with you (providing your plan and support), to meet legal obligations (tax, accounting), for our legitimate interests (preventing fraud, securing and improving our services), and with your consent where required (for example, optional marketing emails).

#Retention

  • Account and billing records: for as long as you have an account, and afterwards as required by tax law.
  • Data on your computer (recordings, projects, settings): until you delete it β€” we have no copy.

#Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export the personal information we hold about you, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your data protection authority. We don't sell or "share" personal information as defined by California law. To make a request, email legal@swampdragon.app; we respond within the time required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity. Because recordings and projects stay on your device, you can delete them yourself at any time.

#International transfers

Our service providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we use safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

#Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit and access controls. The app's local MCP bridge accepts connections only from your own computer and requires a private token. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

#Children

Swamp Dragon is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

#Changes to this policy

We'll post any changes on this page and update the date above. If a change is significant, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
